Increased focus on remuneration policies in Italy
Data analysis of the latest Italian proxy season shows that institutional shareholders are exerting more and more pression on listed companies' management.
This year, institutional shareholders’ participation to annual general meetings hit 31.40% against last year's 29.5% with dissenting vote on remuneration policies of 34.3%, against 28.8% of 2017.
“In 2018, shareholders have considerably increased their focus on remuneration policies and above all on top management’s pay: very often a repeated dissent represents an invite for more aggressive shareholders,” commented Fabio Bianconi, Director of Morrow Sodali.
